Shift Lever Boots

Tip for December 2010:
Performance Shift Lever Boots

Performance shifters often have a squared-off "accordion" boots that seem difficult for most manufacturers to replicate. But there's an easy was to get the look you're after: cut a series of 3-4 identical rectangles from 0.040" styrene, sized to fit the shifter's base. keep one that size, and trim the others so you end up with a series of rectangles, each about 0.060" smaller than the last. Use a sanding stick to round the edges of the rectangles, then stack them to form the pyramid shape of the shift boot.
