Cone Filter
Here's an easy way to scratchbuild your own cone filter: start by drawing a semicircle about 1/2" in diameter (like Pac Man, or a pie with a slice missing). This can be done freehand on a clean sheet of paper, or by using your favoite drawing program and making a printout. Next, draw a series of radial lines, alternating between dark and light stripes as if you were drawing a spoked wheel (albeit one with a piece missing). Then cut out your semicircle, and bend it so that the two corners come together and the paper forms a cone shape. The last step is to either cut off or fold in the tip of the cone, as shown in the photo. You can add bits of scrap plastic and tape to create the base, intake, and other details.
