Tip for April 2014:
Painting White Over Molded Colors
Many kits—particularly those made before the mid-2000s—were molded in color so that modelers wouldn't have to use paint. A neat marketing tool, but incredibly frustrating for anyone who has tried to paint white over something cast in red. Fortunately, there is a way to avoid the pink without using gallons of primer: spray a light coat of silver before anything else. Similar to how
chrome paint protects plastic, silver paint forms a physical barrier that prevents bleed-through. Unlike many chrome paints, though, silver paints are thin enough that they can be applied without risking details.
