I would not reccommend this kit to anyone who is new to model building, or anyone looking for an easy-to-assemble kit. MPC's X-Wing is a very basic kit, but making a decent model out of it is another story altogether.

First, the kit was horribly warped when I got it out of the box. The lasers were pointing in different directions, the molding was not very clean, and some parts simply did not fit together at all. Fortunately, I was looking for a challenge.

I started by fixing the lasers. I heated each one individually and carefully straightened them until they were all parallel and pointing straight ahead. Next, I had to rework the inner engine panels to make them fit in the wings. After that, it was just filling, sanding, and cutting to make the craft go together. Unfortunately, after all of that work, I somehow managed to put the wing assembly in upside down. I'm still debating as to whether I want to take it apart to flip the wings right-side up, or just leave them alone.

I painted the X-Wing to match those seen in Star Wars using a combination of grays, and weathered with charcoal.
