Cars is a Great Movie

Though Cars came out on the 9th, and I've had Lightning McQueen done a week before that, it wasn't until this weekend that we actually got a chance to visit the theater. In short: great movie, I'm just sorry it took two weeks to get to see it.
I think Cars carries the Pixar tradition quite well. It was fun, beautifully rendered, full of automotive history and cool little references (Doc Hudson as The Hudson Hornet is my personal favorite), and just a nice story overall. It's gotten some mixed reviews, but it seems like those people are either:
A) Comparing it to previous Pixar movies, or
B) Having trouble getting past the main characters being automobiles
Is it as amazing as The Incredibles? No, probably not. Then again, it's not a sequel to The Incredibles, either. It's still an excellent movie, though. As for not relating to the mechanical stars of the movie? If you're a fan of any motorsport, appreciate automotive design in general, or just enjoy driving nowhere in particular, you should have no problem.
So my recommendation: see it, buy the DVD when it comes out, and be sure to check out the soundtrack for some really cool driving songs in the meantime.
