Background

Taking over from the Murciélago as Lamborghini's flagship model, it became their best-selling V12 of all time. Following the Lamborghini naming tradition, the Aventador's namesake is a Spanish fighting bull that fought in Zaragoza, Aragón, in 1993 (and not, as some comedians have noted, that the side of the car prominently features "a vent [and] a door"). As part of Jada's second set of Pink Slips vehicles, they've created an Aventador featuring a custom paint job.

Packaging

The Aventador uses the second Pink Slips box design, with the plastic tray built into the base of the box. The back of the box is the same as the Challenger, with the Chevelle co-sell on the back incorrectly identified as a "Corvette SS" (the other photos are this, the Challenger, and the Raptor).

Casting/Paint

Another excellent piece, with smooth panels that nicely capture the complex yet aerodynamic look of the car. The main body is diecast, with rigid black plastic used for the spoiler as well as the various scoops, vents, and intakes. The headlights and windows are clear, the taillights are transparent red, and the mirrors are soft vinyl with chrome inserts. Everything fits together beautifully despite the myriad facets and Stealth-inspired panel breaks.

The paint continues the excellent work we've seen lately, with a base of fiery orange and carbon fiber accents. Most of these are textured plastic, but the hood, mirrors, and rockers are patterned to match and do so extremely well: only by feel can you really tell which parts are cast and which are painted. Additional graphics include the Lamborghini badge on the nose, silver corner markers, black for the front and rear splitters, white "Y" patterns on the headlights, a large "W-5" on each door, and even larger "SV" on each flank, a Lambo script between the taillights, and a discreet Pink Slips logo on the rocker just ahead of each rear wheel and above the rear diffuser. Registration and coverage are excellent across the board.

Inside continues the fine work, with full detail on the dash and door panels, separate pedals, and a sticker to represent the instruments. This is also the first glimpse of interior paint we've sen in this wave, with the seats trimmed in bright orange. The rest of the interior is solid black, as is the midship engine. This is represented by a single cast piece with a second cross brace fitted above the intake manifolds. The chassis is nicely done, still flat but detailed with panel breaks, NACA ducts, fasteners, even a carbon fiber texture. A set of four chrome exhaust tips are centered in the diffuser It's a slick take on the typical flat pan, and looks great. Wheels are black Dianthus with vinyl low profile tires and massive cross-drilled brake rotors with black calipers.

Features/Accessories

The doors, trunk, and engine cover all open and close, with the doors on some very cool angled hinges that replicate the butterfly doors on the actual car.

Accuracy

No question what we're looking at here. The lines and proportions all look good, and internal scaling appears accurate. The custom touches are all appropriate and represent upgrades one might see on a full-sized Lambo. I'm not sure what's going on in the engine bay, as this doesn't match any Aventador engine I've seen. It's a high-performance engine, but beyond that I've got nothing. Scale-wise it's bigger than 1/24, coming in at around 1/21-1/22 scale.

Overall

It has the over-the-top vibe that's appropriate for Lamborghinis, with the type of upgrades you'd commonly see once they hit the aftermarket. After two near-perfect 1/24 vehicles I'm a little disappointed to see the return of "box scale," but your mileage may vary. Fortunately, that's really the only complaint - if you like what you see, you won't be disappointed.
