Press Release: HobbyLink Japan Presents hobbylink.tv!

Over the years at HobbyLink Japan, we’ve created dozens of special show reports, videos, photo galleries and other content to help our customers keep in touch with what’s happening in Japan - and the world’s - hobby scene. But since the primary focus of our mail-order site is to show off products for sale, that sort of content can get lost in the shuffle, and we never had a logical place to keep it for later access, either.

Enter hobbylink.tv!

On this new sister site to hlj.com, we’ll be posting all of our videos, show reports (like those from last weekend's Shizuoka show), podcasts and more as we continue to report on what we see. But we’re not going to stop there! We want to make the new site a communications forum for our customers to discuss their hobbies and products, too, so all posts we make will be open for comments. What’s more, we’ll shortly begin accepting content from you, too! If you’ve built a great model and want to tell the world how you did it, or want to show off your collection, here’s a great place for you to do it where thousands of people with similar interests are likely to see your work.

Now that we have a great place to keep all this content neat and organized, we’re going to go crazy with our cameras and do our best to produce the kind of content so many of you have been kind enough to tell us you want to see. First up is our reports from the last weekend's Shizuoka Hobby Show, which are online now. We've got videos from the show in the works, too!

Photos & Mini-Review of Round 2's 1/32 Batmobile

It's been a while since I've had a chance to post, but I wanted to make sure you all got to see the return of the classic Aurora Bat (I just picked it up from the hobby store a couple of hours ago):

Overall, I'd say Round 2 has done a nice job here. As the last photo shows, the fine detail work of the grilles and license plate has held up pretty well, and there is remarkably little flash considering the age of the tooling. The chrome looks nice and bright with no swirls or color tints, and the parts look very straight. The proportions are nowhere near as accurate as the Hot Wheels castings, but that's to be expected since this is a repop of the old Aurora kit. Definitely a worthwhile purchase, and it gives us all something to do while we await the all-new 1/25 version due out later this year.

Where to Purchase:
Amazon.com has it for $16.29 - $19.95
Entertainment Earth has it listed for $21.99

Iron Man 2 Review

Iron Man is often cited as one of the greatest comic book movies ever, and with good reason. But that left some people nervous about the sequel: would it be as good? Could it be as good? What they failed to consider with these concerns s that 90% of what made the first movie so great was Robert Downey, Jr. He was so much fun to watch as Tony Stark that the rest of the movie pretty much fell into place. As he said as the final words of that movie: "I am Iron Man."
