Drive Angry Review

I was looking forward to Drive Angry since the first trailer. With recent movies Machete, The Expendables, and The A-Team, we have seen the return of over-the-top awesomeness that hasn't been seen in theaters for nearly two decades. Drive Angry does indeed carry this torch, but not quite as successfully as some of those other movies.

New Transformers Dark of the Moon Daytona 500 TV Spot

Spy v. Eye

This wasn't originally supposed to be a two-model update, but it was a nice bit of continuity. I had started The Avengers' Lotus Elan and Mannix's Oldsmobile Toronado at the same time as part of a Community Build project on Scale Auto, but thanks to the extra work needed to fix the Olds there ended up being quite a lag between getting the two cars finished. Thanks to my forgetting to post an update here when I finished the Elan, however, it turns out that both cars hit the site at the same time.

Toy Fair 2011 Day 3: Old Familiar Faces

Every year at Toy Fair, I like to visit a few specific companies. These companies represent some of the best choices for kids of all ages.
First, Dano2 remains one of my personal favorites for the youngest target audience. The passion and artistry they have really comes through in their products, and make them that much better. Their latest offering is a learning app for the iPad called Little Sky Writers. They will soon be releasing an update of the Little Sky Writer toy that was first prototyped last year. Dano2's products remain a popular choice for new parents, and are perfect for little ones.
For older kids, Manhattan toys' Automoblox line is a great choice. New products include their Highcroft Racing set, classic hot rods, and more. The unique styling offers a fun option for kids and parents who are into cars but interested in something a bit different.
Finally, for adult collectors, M2 Machines continues their line of highly detailed 1/24 collectibles. Their Shelby Mustangs have just recently hit stores, and will be followed up by a '56 Ford Pickup hot rod in the near future. Later this year, they plan to offer a '69 Camaro as well. Although more well known for their 1/64 vehicles, their 1/24 series provides a nice combination of high parts count and excellent detailing and a reasonable price tag.

All in all, it looks like 2011 will see some great new products!

Toy Fair 2011 Day 2: A Night at the Movies with Superman

Grant Morrison & Frank Quietly's acclaimed All-Star Superman has become the most recent entry in DC's series of animated movies (available on DVD and Blu-ray February 22, 2011). I got a chance to watch the premiere screening at the Paley Center for Media in New York, which included a roundtable interview with voice director Andrea Romano, writer Dwayne McDuffie, and voice actor Christina Hendricks (Lois Lane).

For those familiar with the comic, it follows the general story but makes a few omissions for the sake of time constraints. For those who haven't read the story yet: SPOILERS AHEAD.

Toy Fair 2011 Day 1: News from Seibertron

As youmayhavenoticed, I'm a big fan of the current Human Alliance Line of Transformers. So for this year's opening day of Toy Fair, I'm going to turn the news over to Seibertron.com, with some very cool items from Hasbro's event.
Human Alliance Bumblebee and Skids
First up, we'll be seeing some repaints - no surprise there. Bumblebee will appear as a larger version of the "Stealth Bumblebee" figure from 2008, and Skids will sport a similar paint job. But it looks like we'll also be seeing a whole new line of smaller figures that turn into smaller vehicles including a dune buggy, a snowmobile, and a three-wheeler. These smaller vehicles also appear to have a very M.A.S.K.-esque third mode, which is a very cool touch.
Human Alliance Scout Class figures
The last thing I'll specifically mention here is another possibility for some ~1/24 Transformers action: Hassbro will be expanding their "Leader" class figures to include Bumblebee and Ironhide. Bumblebee may overshoot the mark a little bit (his Human Alliance figure is about 1/27 scale, so an increase to Leader class may push him closer to 1/20), but the sheer size of the GMC Topkick means that a Leader-sized Ironhide could finally give us a properly scaled model of this truck.
Leader Class Ironhide
This is just the smallest bit of information available on the new Transformers lines. Be sure to check our Seibertron.com for full coverage of the Transformers line!

Well, That's a Fine How Do You Do

Some of you may remember the Batmobile infographic that made the rounds a few weeks ago, using images gathered from my other site, BatmobileHistory.com. Well, it seems like the CarInsurance.org designer has struck again, this time using my model of Bluestreak in this Transformers Infographic (WARNING: they really missed the mark with both facts and copyrights on this one):
