Akira's Z

It's no secret I love Z cars. Datsun/Nissan managed to create a winner right out of the gate, and have yet to turn out a real clunker. I have at least one from each generation in my "to be built" stash, though that stack is one shorter with the completion of the Yanky Mate!

Give Us Your Courage - VIFAM!

It took a little hunting and a little luck, but I was able to find the second Vifam EVA. Small as it may be, this set is now complete.

Let the Wrecking Begin

It turns out that 1/24 replicas of Eleanor are as hard to get as the original was in the movie. My first attempt was AMT's Macho Mustang...the only '73 kit out there, but so far off that trying to correct the interior, engine, and hood just weren't worth it. Then I found out about Bunka's "Vanishing Mach 1. Although badged as an unofficial Eleanor, this was still wrong in many of the details. Next, I tried to get a resin hood to make a hybrid of the Macho Mustang and AMT's '71 Mustang, but was unable to get a hold of the seller.

Finally, like a chance encounter at a car wash, I discovered that Motor Max made a flat hood '71 and a set of Mustang wheels with smaller center caps. This would be my Eleanor...and by leaving the '71 bumpers and parking lights as they were, it made for an even more accurate movie replica than I had originally planned!

NEON!

Arguably the only truly "neon" Transformer, G2 Soundwave is without a doubt one of the harshest paint schemes ever, but that's what I love about it. Few toys were so unashamedly a creation of their time, and that deserves some respect.
