Daydream Believer

Despite the box's claims to the contrary, George Barris had no part in creating the Monkeemobile. Two cars were conceived and build by Dean Jeffries, under contract with the Monkees showrunners. After filming wrapped, the studio offered to sell the cars back to Jeffries but he passed on the offer (legend has it he said it would have been cheaper for him to build another one should he want it). Barris purchased one of the cars instead, and thanks in no small part to his relentless marketing the line between "builder" and "buyer" got blurred over the years.

Paradox Girl

Last year wasn't quite as productive as I had hoped, even though the whole point was to work on stuff that had already been started (theoretically giving me a head start on them). Turns out that a lot of those unfinished projects were unfinished because I had gotten them mired in some particularly difficult part of the build before abandoning them. Add in the nonsense of everyday life, and I just couldn't get into a groove. So this year, I've decided to make it all about grooving: the build theme for 2022 will be "music" in all its forms: songs, bands, music videos, TV and movie themes, etc. And we're starting out with a curious model kit from Kotobukiya, featuring the premiere vocaloid in the world: Hatsune Miku.
