Elk Grove Village, IL -– Revell, the industry-leading supplier of model kits, today announced plans to distribute more free model kits to U.S. military members overseas and to injured members recovering here at home, as it has done since the start of the Iraqi War. Revell has donated nearly 1,000 free model kits since 2003, valued at tens of thousands of dollars, to military members.
This year’s model kit donations include some of the most popular cars, ships and planes ranging in easy to difficult skill level. Many troops stationed overseas and members undergoing medical treatment for injuries sustained during mobilization in support of the war are enjoying Revell'’s model kits. "“Revell'’s model kits have helped our injured soldiers with very limited physical capabilities pass the time," said Crystal Cole, Sergeant First Class of the Warrior Transition Unit in Fort Dix, New Jersey.
"“Revell'’s donations are in honor of the men and women who sacrifice so much,"” said Mike Brezette, Revell marketing vice president. "“We'’re building on more than 60 years of support for U.S. military members and we'’re glad to continue that tradition."” While Revell continues to respond to direct requests for military donations, the company also supports the military with donations made via the International Plastic Modeler'’s Association Hobbies for Heroes program.
Revell captured the interest of hobbyists and military collectors in the 1960'Â’s with WW II planes and military ships that traced naval history. Today, Revell continues to release historic/war aircraft including the Vietnam Gunship, the Apache Helicopter and the Navy'Â’s SBD Dauntless.
