News/Updates

Some say he's only three inches tall, and that his body made of is solid metal. All I know is, he's called The Stig

Top Gear is one of my favorite programs, and I've been wanting to build something from the show for a while now. The idea of making a mini-Stig didn't occur to me until I was reminded of the NASCAR figures that came out a few years back, and how one of them even sported a very Stig-like pose. A little sculpting and a little paint, and I now have my very own Stig to test drive everything from Batmobiles to KITT.

Life Imitates Transformers

Although it came out a couple of years ago, I only just found out about the Caparo T1.This link will open a new window On doing more research, I learned that one of the concepts produced in the fall of 2007 was the Rapid Response Vehicle (produced in conjunction with the London Metropolitan Police):

The idea of a road-going F1 Police car seemed awfully familiar. Three years prior to the unveiling of the RRV, Hasbro produced this Prowl figure as part of their Energon line:

The similarities are even better with S.W.A.T. Prowl, who has headlight printed onto his front fenders and a more traditional black & white color scheme. It seems like the idea wasn't so far-fetched after all.

JavelinAMX.com

I just found out that JavelinAMX.com expired a couple of weeks ago, and is currently in the limbo between renewal or deletion. JavelinAMX.com was the first TV/movie car site (appearing back in the mid-1990s - way before imcdb.org), and one of the two original 1966 Batmobile sites. Although it hadn't been updated for quite a while, it's still unfortunate to see this possible "end of an era."

I have used John's site as a checklist for my model building for quite a while - without it, I'd likely never have known about Wheels of Terror. Thank goodness for the internet archive, so at least I'll still be able to have a copy of it for the future.

Congratulations to Team Lowes

Big Glee

Many thanks to Al Bigley for the nice shout out in his blog yesterday. Al has done some terrific work in both 2- and 3-D art, which you can check out here.

Roger Corman to Receive Honorary Oscar

Roger Corman, the man who's been behind films from the little-known 1955 The Fast and the Furious to more popular flicks like Death race 2000, is going to be receiving an honorary Lifetime Achievement Award for his work. The full article is available here.

Clash of the Titans

I just found out that there is a remake of Clash of the Titans in the works. It looks like it could be a fun popcorn movie:

A Ride fit for a King

Truth be told, I actually enjoyed 3000 Miles to Graceland. It was so over-the-top with absolutely everything that it actually turned out to be an enjoyable film in its own quirky way. So of course Kurt Russell's Caddy had to be added to my model collection sooner or later. Thanks to finding a good donor car, I was able to make it sooner. The end result of my upgrades can be seen here.

VIP VAL JAG

It wasn't intentional, but the last few updates here have been all Jaguar, all the time. This latest addition is a quick custom of the XK8 from the TV series V.I.P.

Misfile '09

Continuing the tradition of adding to my Misfile collection right around the first week of November, this year it's Kate's Jaguar XKR. You can see the previous cars on the following pages: Ash's XR4Ti, Tom's RSX-S, and Emily's Nissan 240SX.
