Tomb Raider Jeep

Lara Croft: Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life may be one of the most awkward titles in movie history. Still, I enjoyed the movie itself and picked up the Revell Jeep Rubicon kit back when it was in stores. With Wanted out this past weekend, it seemed like a good time to put it together as a way of revisiting one of Angelina Jolie's earlier roles. You can see the buildup here.

That...was...Awesome

Just got back from seeing Wanted, and wow. Just, wow. The action was incredible, the cars and chases were amazing, and the actors were all top notch (not that you can go wrong with Angelina Jolie or Morgan Freeman). It was good enough that I'm thinking that I might have to reevaluate my Top 10 Best Chases list. Or, I might have to start a new list dedicated to individual stunts thanks to this movie. It was just that cool.

Be warned, though: despite the number of under-18s in the screening I was at, this is not a kid-friendly movie. It fully earned its "R" rating. Take them to Wall-E but be sure to check out Wanted yourself.

Hard Man?

I was checking through Revell's web site and found this. It's part of the Covert series of 1/32 Snaptites, with vehicle names of "Blowback,""Drop Dead," and "Hard Man.""Hard Man?" Really?

Well, I guess that's what happened to him after his stint in MegaMan 3. I suppose we should consider ourselves lucky that "Flash Man" or "Wood Man" weren't available.

Credit Where Credit is Due

Complaining about Corporate America is practically a national pastime. It's easy to hate the big names because they ignore consumers, make dumb choices, etc. It's especially common for collectors to go hard on the toy industry: every decision made by the powers that be is a slap in the face to some collector somewhere. And heaven forbid there's an actual problem with one of their products: getting good service and solving the issue can be a frustrating runaround.

But I have to give credit to Hasbro's consumer relations department. I had a problem with one of the Transformers figures I got, and let them know about it. They were courteous, professional, and able to solve the issue very quickly. They actually went to a fair amount of trouble for a single $10 toy owned by a single consumer, and deserve credit for a job well done.

Great job guys, and thanks. May others follow your example.

M. Night Shyamalan Knows Suspense...

...but not cars. I saw The Happening earlier today, and it was pretty good - but had some atrocious missteps whenever the action involved vehicles. Click "Continue reading M. Night Shyamalan Knows Suspense..." below to see a couple of things he missed. INCLUDES SPOILERS

Car Movie News

There's been a few new sightings in the world of upcoming car movies, and some delays getting to them thanks to the server outage over the weekend...so I've been playing catch up on my news since the restoration.

First, TFW2005.com posted the news that Jazz will return for the sequel (due out July 26, 2009), and that the movie will have ten characters for each faction. They also posted photos of this Chevy Malibu with a very familiar paint job:

Next, IESB.net has posted photos of Jason Statham's Mustang from the upcoming Death Race (scheduled for release August 22):

...and finally, the new trailer for Wanted hit yesterday. You can check it out here.

Corvette + Mustang = literally over the top stunt.
