Background

Only one of the first ten Cars - Wendy Wagon - had a opening hood and engine detail. With the release of Pax Power, half the Cars had this feature...though Pax is the first one to have an extra face as part of his.

Packaging

The packaging art for Pax Power continues the scene from Trevor Tow Truck, picking up just to the right of Trevor's scene with Dylan on a lift and Skyler on the ground at the far right. "Safety tested and recommended for children age 3 and over" is printed on a cabinet to the far left, and in the middle is a workbench and the shop door. The size and front panel color are the same as they were with Trevor, so that when the two Cars are placed side by side they make one continuous scene. The Chevron logo/name and "Keep your Neighborhood Clean ♻" are printed on both ends, while. The back panel continues the back panel from Trevor, with the back halves of Brandon and Zachary on the far left and Bailey Dylan on lifts. The toys features are listed on the back of a toolbox, and Pax's gas can accessory is on a bench near the back of the shop. The bottom of the package has a photo of Pax with callouts for his moving eyes, opening hood, reflective mirrors, gas can/fill, and opening doors. Next to the photo is the usual marketing paragraph: "Ever since graduating from Techron Tech, Pax Power has been fueled for success! Yep, Pax is go, go, go all the time. But to keep on his whirlwind pace, Pax has to stay in tip-top shape. Well, all you have to do is look at his clean and happy engine and you know Pax Power is ready, set, go!" A plastic tray separates the back of Pax from his gas can accessory, and the customer feedback card, sales flyer, and "Owner's Manual" are packed inside underneath.

Casting/Paint

Pax's ABS body is painted a deep candy blue, and once again Chevron shows that when they want to paint their cars they can get it done right. The finish is smooth and glossy, with even coverage and only the faintest hint of ghosting near the edge of the trunk lid. The sideview mirrors are black plastic with reflective silver stickers used for the mirror glass, and the fuel fill is silvery gray plastic. A Techron sticker is mounted as the license plate on the rear bumper. The tires are vinyl slicks with Chevron/Techron cast on the sidewalls and are mounted on silver 5-spoke directional wheels. Pax's parking lights and inner rear lights are orange, his taillights are red, his mouth is black with white teeth, and his eyes are brown with peach eyelids. The interior is a rich reddish brown with front bucket seats, a narrow rear bench, detailed center console, and detailed dashboard with a separate black steering wheel. The chassis has the usual name and series logo plate, along with the suggestion of front and rear suspensions and dual exhausts that into notches in the rear bumper. Under the hood is a generic V engine, likely supposed to be a V8 but without any immediately identifying features. Not that it isn't detailed: the block is painted orange; the finned valve covers, intake manifold, and air cleaner are painted silver; the drive belt and ribbed radiator hose are painted black; and the eyes and mouth are fully detailed.

Features/Accessories

Pax has opening doors, moving eyes, and a pop-up engine under the hinged hood. The doors work great, snapping securely into their "closed" positions but opening easily. The eyes are activated by pushing down on his hood and rolling him forward, which makes his eyes move up and down. The engine is spring loaded, and activated by pushing down on the fuel fill. You can easily push it with a finger but you're supposed to use the included jerry can, which has a nozzle that fits into the dimple in the center of the fill. The can is cast entirely in red plastic, with an open handle and smiley face cast into center of the reverse side. The "face" of the can has a full-color sticker that reads "It's what's on the inside that counts!"

Accuracy

In his commercial appearance, Pax was a lighter/paler blue and had a narrow grille more or less centered between his eyes. But the overall shape is correct, as are details like his parking lights, eye color, and sideview mirrors. He measures approximately 5½" (140mm) long, 3" (75mm) wide, and 2¼" (55mm) tall.

Overall

As far as I can tell, Pax Power was a fairly standard release - not one of the celebratory numbers like Leslie LX or Leo Limo, or a special release like the Icon Car - but he has a high-end finish, fun feature, and extra accessory that makes him much more premium.
