After building the Little Red Corvette, I found myself with a spare '85 and no particular plan for it. But then I thought about how I had a representative of G.I. Joe in the collection, and so it seemed appropriate to build a counterpart from the same era and make Barbie's Silver Vette.

The bulk of the kit went together as expected - this is about the eighth time I've done an MPC C4 - and it remains a pleasure to work on even despite (possibly because of) the quirks. The only changes I made this time were replacing the intake with a Crossfire manifold from my parts box, crimp tube tailpipes, and my usual upgrades of CD jewel case parking lights and Monogram wheels. Speaking of Monogram, I didn't remove the top this time as a nod to Monogram's official "Barbie's Silver Vette" model kit, released around the same time they were producing other toy-related model kits.

Colors were inspired by the original toy, but remapped a little to better reflect the look of a 1:1 Corvette. The interior was painted Tamiya TS-37 Lavender with satin black for the dashboard, seat backs, center console, and other details. The one part of these builds that I never looked forward to was painting the poorly-defined door panels, so this time around I made a set of decals to do the job for me. It worked much better, and is something I will definitely be doing on any future builds of this kit. The body was TS-17 Gloss Aluminum, the roof was TS-14 Black under TS-71 Smoke clear, the chassis was flat black with various metallics for detailing, and the engine was done in pink primer with chrome dress-up parts that combined kit-supplied chrome and a few details painted with a chrome Gundam Marker.

The markings and other details were all my own drawings printed onto decal or paper stock, including the side stripes, wheels, side and rear lights, badges, floor mats, and license plate.
