As I slowly try to improve my figure painting skills, I've been keeping my eyes open for affordable options to practice on. This has led to the world of 3D artists, who often sell files that can be resized to work with any scale and - should I make a truly fatal mistake - I can always reprint the file and start over. One of the artists I ran across was CG Pyro, who regularly releases 3D models of various pop culture characters with multiple print options. Among those was Cheetara, which I thought would work great with my Thundertank statue.

She was printed without her base or bo, since I didn't want the former and the latter could be replaced with a smoother, straighter, and cleaner version made from rod stock. The print was scaled so she would stand 70mm tall to fit with the rest of my 1/24 collection. After a quick repair (1/24 sale fingers are particularly delicate) and cleaning, Cheetara was ready for paint.

I started with a base of white primer and some preshading. Her undersuit was painted with Apple Barrel's "Apricot," her main suit, boots, and arm guard were painted with Mondo Llama's "Juicy Watermelon," and the rest of the details were painted with a mix of yellows, white, and flesh tones. A light application of Tamiya's weathering effects was used to create some highlights, then everything was sealed with a shot of Dullcote. The few final details include a custom decal for her chest symbol, hand-painted spots, chrome-painted bracelets, and a new staff made from 1.5mm rod stock.
