Around the same time that IXO released their Niki Lauda Ferrari, they also dropped a James Hunt McLaren. Well, almost. Hunt drove for team Marlboro and as noted elsewhere, replicas with cigarette livery can be problematic.
Fortunately, this was a pretty easy fix. IXO generally got the paint job correct, they just left off the Marlboro logos. The also, for less obvious reasons, removed the "Goodyear" logos from the front wing. All of the missing logos were fixed with a quick trip through Illustrator for some custom decals.
The only tricky one was the lettering on the top of the rear wing, since IXO had added an extra chevron to create a sort of triangle design. Thin as decal stock was, I doubted it would hide the extreme contrast between bright red and stark white. Instead of relying purely on that, I first cut a strip of glossy white vinyl the exact width of the wing and height of the lettering before applying my custom waterslide decal. It's still not perfect, but you really have to be looking to spot the original paint.
