Background
2014 would be the last year Batman was part of Monster Jam, with John Seasock behind the wheel for this final season. It was retired at the end of the season due to the license with DC Comics expiring.
Packaging
The overall package looks the same thanks to the continued use of the plastic box that was introduced in 2010, but it has been slightly reshaped and the internal printed piece is entirely different. Rather than the folded "box" base with a separate vertical insert, it is all now one piece that is folded to fit the inside of the plastic. The front panel with the Monster Jam logo, bat symbol, and die-cast callout is no longer angled, the truck simply sits on the floor of the box, and the back panel is die cut to fit around the tires. Internal printing is nearly the same - though the space where the callouts to other trucks was now simply has a black bar with "Off-Road" written in a yellow bar at the top - but the outside is now bright yellow for the front and bottom. The reverse side of the back panel repeats the yellow and black "Off-Road" banner, but otherwise is nothing more than co-sells and legal info.
Casting/Paint
The casting is another straight carryover, but the deco has been updated to better match the look of the truck in its final two seasons. The nose is now blank, the yellow-and-black oval door Bats have been replaced with silver Arkham-style symbols, and the "2-Time Racing Champion" banner has been moved up the roof, taking up the space where that symbol used to be.
Features/Accessories
No change from the previous release.
Accuracy
The new deco certainly helps, but the base truck is still incorrect for how it looked in 2014.
Overall
I genuinely like the sleeker look that comes with the silver Bats, even if the rest of the truck remains unchanged. Worth checking out if one shows up at a good price.
