NOTE: This is a modified reissue of an existing model, and this review will focus on the changes made between the cars. You can see the original review for more details.

Background

The second generation Ford GT was unveiled as a 2016 model, marking the 50th anniversary of the GT40's win at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans. Further celebrating the anniversary, the GT competed at the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans and won the LM GTE-Pro class with Joey Hand, Dirk Müller, and Sébastien Bourdais at the wheel.

Packaging

The GT is part of the same wave as the 1966 Batmobile, and so the outer box is identical save for the car name printed under the main window. Inside, it uses the same cityscape backdrop and opaque-trimmed base as the previous wave.

Casting/Paint

The casting is as good as ever, with an all-new color scheme that pays tribute to the original GT40. The base is a gorgeous metallic color-shifting paint that appears blue, green, or purple depending on the angle. Twin matte black stripes follow the centerline of the car, split by a matte pink stripe that matches the tops of the mirrors. The carbon fiber skirts suggest the classic side stripes, with a pink "Ford" just ahead of each rear wheel. The rear spoiler is gloss black and it has the usual "Pink Slips" rear license plate.

Features/Accessories

The same functional panels, though whatever gremlins were trapped in the doors seem to have been exorcised here as both work flawlessly.

Accuracy

Nothing really new to talk about accuracy-wise, but I do appreciate the way Jada translated the 1966 Ford racing scheme to a 2024 custom ride.

Overall

It's impossible to appreciate how good this paint job is under store lighting. Even after getting it, I was pleasantly surprised to see it out of the box and how slick the color shifting effect looks. It's definitely worth picking one up to see it in person.
