Background

Miriya was an ace Zentraedi pilot and undefeated warrior until she encountered Max Sterling. Going undercover aboard the SDF-1, Max again bested her. The two developed a romance and marriage that marked the first union between human and Zentraedi.

Packaging

The only change from Roy Fokker's box is the images of the character and mech. Miriya's portrait now makes up the right edge of the front panel window, and the veritech fighter is in red.

Casting/Paint

As with Max's Supra, the results here are much better than they were with Roy Fokker's release. The red base is nice and clean, the graphics are nicely aligned and properly opaque, and the finish is smooth and even. Edges continue to be a tricky area, with a little bit of red visible around the A pillars and a light stutter in the white stripes at the rear of the car, but generally things look pretty good. Panels open and close correctly with proper alignment. The glass is nice and clear. The rear plate is still black with white text and a Robotech logo at the top, this time reading "Parina."

Features/Accessories

Everything works as it did before. There's also a metal 1/24 Miriya Sterling figure included, painted in her red and white flight suit and carrying her helmet in her right hand. The casting is once again pretty good, with no major casting flaws and nice clean paint. Her face is actually better than it looks in pictures - the delicate features tend to disappear in the solid color.

Accuracy

This is not based on an existing design, but is instead a "character car" that simply uses an existing tooling with a new paint job to evoke a persona. It does do a decent job of capturing the essence of Miriya's Veritech.

Overall

We're now two for three in Jada's Robotech series, bumping what had been a "good idea, terrible execution" into solid "not bad at all" territory. I don't know if I can fully endorse picking up the whole series, but I will no longer recommend against it.
