Background
After the death of Mickey and loss to Clubber Lang, Apollo Creed offers to train Rocky for his rematch with Lang. This takes them to Creed's old stamping grounds, the Tough Gym in Los Angeles.
Packaging
While the box retains the basic size and shape of GreenLight's Hollywood series, this has a simple design that reflects the Rocky III poster: black background, white text, and a lone image of Sylvester Stallone. One end flap has a phot oof Rocky and Adrian, while the other has Rocky and Creed. The back panel has photos of Rocky training and post-bout, behind the movie title and tag line in large text. The cardboard tray inside the box behind the Monaco is a large image of Rocky delivering a cross to Lang, with the end flaps each having the movie title centered on the panel.
Casting/Paint
Other than the addition of a taxi roof sign, the casting here is identical to the Hunter Monaco. Still no sign of mold fatigue, as everything looks sharp and clean with nice gaps around the doors, smooth panels, and good alignment. The paint is a solid yellow base, marred only by a couple of small scuffs along the edge of the right rear fender opening, otherwise clean and glossy. The graphics are all correctly applied, especially noticeable in places with little room for error like the roof trim near the trunk lid and the checkerboards that perfectly follow the body creases. The side trim gaps for the front doors, each of which has a "City Cab Co" logo in black and silver centered below the window. The number 16 appears on both rear fenders just behind the doors, and a small "Dodge" script has been added to the right side of the trunk lid.
Features/Accessories
Same front doors opening, this time the left door is back a hair and might need a little extra push to open or close fully.
Accuracy
This car only appeared in one scene, dropping Rocky and his family off at the gym. But in that scene we got a good shot of the front and side of the car, and this matches the screen car: same markings, same roof sign, same California "1ADV324" license plate. The only notable error is the inclusion of the standard mesh between the front and back seats.
Overall
It's nice to see the Monaco in different trim, definitely worth checking out.
