NOTE: This is a modified reissue of an existing model, and this review will focus on the changes made between the cars. You can see the original review for more details.
Background
Despite losing his powers as the Green Ranger, Tommy Oliver had proven his strength and bravery working with the Power Rangers. Zordon and Alpha grant him the mantle of the White Ranger, created from the White Light of Good.
Packaging
The only differences between this and the White Ranger's box are the portraits on the front and side panels, the text across the bottom of the front panel, and the back now has co-sells for the Red, Green, and White Rangers - the first time three cars have been featured.
Casting/Paint
Most of the casting here is identical to what we saw on the Green Ranger car, save for the rear spoiler which has been changed from a raised wing to a low profile wedge. It does look like a bit of an afterthought, but if we're honest the only spoiler that looks correct there is the integrated panel Honda's designers included in the original design. The quality of the overall casting is just as good as it was before, with clean panels and good tight seams.
The biggest difference here is the color, which is far more than a simple pallette swap from the Green Ranger. The base color is a bright pearl white, with semigloss gold and black accents. The hood is particularly well done, with fine gold piping on the vents and a nice even edge down both sides. The fender flares continue the gold from the hood, recreating the wide shoulder pauldrons on the White Ranger's armor. Matching gold stripes go down each side of the car, roughly following the shape of the side coves, and the spoiler top is gold with a square pattern in black. The White Tigerzord symbol is in gold and black on the hood and both doors. Contingency sponsor logos, also in gold and black, are printed down both sides of the car: Bride (seats), Boost, Toyo (tires), HKS (performance parts), Volk (wheels), and Endless (brakes). The interior and engine are solid black, with a sticker acting as the gauge cluster.
Features/Accessories
Whatever was going on with the left door on the Green Ranger NSX seems to have been a one-off problem, as both doors work perfectly here. There's also a metal 1/24 White Ranger figure included, painted with the same pearl white and semigloss gold and black. As usual it's pretty decent work, combining a metal body with soft vinyl arms and a nicely detailed Saba on his left hip.
Accuracy
This is not based on an existing design, but is instead a "character car" that simply uses an existing tooling with a new paint job to evoke a persona.
Overall
I thought it was a nice touch to make the Green and White Ranger cars based on the same model, with enough changes to make them unique. If anything, the pearl white and black and gold details are more demanding and yet have been executed beautifully.
